Brief Biography

Dr. Minglun Gong is Professor and Director of the School of Computer Science at the University of Guelph, and was Head of Computer Science at the Memorial University of Newfoundland before joining Guelph. As an academic leader, he fosters consensus and promotes team efforts to advance initiatives such as strategic growth, curriculum renewal, and inclusive hiring.

His research spans visual computing and AI, with over 160 refereed publications, including 25+ in ACM/IEEE Transactions. He received the 2025 SIGGRAPH Test-of-Time Award and multiple best-paper awards with his students.

Dr. Gong earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta and his M.Sc. from Tsinghua University.
