Computer Programming I
Labs
The labs, which are held on Thursdays 9:00 - 11:40 in room GH301, are an
important
component of this course. Each lab consists of a set of experiments and
exercises. Each lab is worth a specific mark (please see the course
outline for the grading scheme for the course). The labs will be
instructed by a teaching assistant.
Two Sections: Please note that there are two lab sessions that
run concurrently in two different rooms as shown below. Please make sure
that you go to right session.
- Section 101: will be held in GH301 (Lab Instructor: Ryan Eccles)
- Section 102: will be held in GH322 (Lab Instructor: William Wang)
Note: Since we still do not have Internet access in the labs, the
stuff that can be done is limited. Therefore, I encourage you to work on
the following lab from home and if you have any difficulties please see me
or the TAs. Work on this lab from home.
The Labs
- Lab1. To prepare for this lab:
- Find out who is your partner:
- Print a copy of the lab handout (above link) and bring it with you
to the Lab
- Read this short
paper on Pair Programming. The article mentions XP,
which is an abbreviation for eXtreme Programming (a software development
methodology)
- Print a copy of Week1 Notes and Week2 Notes and bring them with you to the Lab.
- Lab2. To prepare for this lab:
- Find out who is your partner:
- Print a copy of the lab handout (above link) and bring it with you
- Print a copy of Week2 Notes and bring
them with you to the Lab.
- Since we don't have the network up and running yet, bring a disk so
that you can copy whatever HTML files you develop, take them home and run
them from your Internet-enabled machine. (this will be useful in order to
see how frames and forms work).
- Lab3. To prepare for this lab:

- Print a copy of Week3 Notes and bring
them with you to the Lab.
- Lab4. To prepare for this lab:
