Assignment Submission Instruction for CIS 4450
Hardcopy and Soft Copy
- All submissions are due
at the time when the lecture starts
on the announced due date.
- Programs and related documents for programming problems should be
submitted electronically, except any diagrams for illustration.
- Answers to short-answer questions and illustration diagrams
(as part of the programm documentation) should be submitted in hardcopy.
Hardcopy Submission
- Indicate clearly your full name, student number,
course number and assignment number.
If student name and student number can not be easily identified,
the submission will be discarded.
The student who made the submission will receive zero for
the assignment.
- Keep a copy of your submission for problem resolution.
Electronic Submission
- Electronic submission has its advantages but also introduces
issues not present for hardcopy submission.
The procedure explained below is designed to achieve a
balance of convenience of students, management work load,
and academic integrity.
- Files are to be compressed into a zip file from
a Windows based computer.
Mac users should check to ensure their compressed files
are Windows compatible, as problems have occured in the past
with Mac compressed files.
- A submitted zip file should contain java source files, compiled
class files as well as sample output.
In addition, it should contain a readme.txt file in plain text
(ASCII format).
- The readme.txt file should include your full name, student number,
course number, assignment number and instructions on how to run your
program.
You may append any additional information that are helpful for
marking your assignment.
- The submission should be sent to
cis4450@socs.uoguelph.ca.
Include the course number and assignment number in the subject line.
- Assignment should be mailed from your uoguelph email account.
Please do not submit from your other email accounts.
- Keep a copy of your email submission for problem resolution.
If a student claims submission but the submission was not
received, the original email record can be used to support the claim.
The claim will not be considered if the student fails to
provide the original email record.
Resubmission
- Multiple electronic submissions of the same assignment cause
confusion and can jam the mailbox.
Please check carefully your assignment before submitting
and refrain from resubmissions.
- If a submission has been received from a student before the
due time, resubmissions from the same student after due time will be
discarded.
- If resubmission is absolutely necessary, you may do so but
only before the due time.
The subject line of each resubmission should indicate so
with the number of resubmission, e.g., "first resubmission".
Only the last submission before the due time will be marked
and all others will be discarded.
